Friday 22nd November Sport

Morning all,

Despite the delightful weather conditions we are experiencing at the moment, Surf School is still on at present. Manly surf school will attempt to run unless there is thunder and lightning down at the beach. I will re-assess the conditions and make a call at around 10am. Students should come prepared for the beach.

The rain is due to clear up, however it will remain windy. A call on Tennis will be made later this morning.

Fun Run Postponed

Cancellation of ALL outdoor activities (Term 4 Week 3)

Dear Parents and Carers,

Yesterday we received advice from Deputy Director General of NSWDEC recommending that schools in our area do not allow students to participate in prolonged outdoor physical activity due to the high pollution levels from the NSW bushfires.

We examined the implications of this in a meeting yesterday, with Mrs Cope seeking advice from Bridge Street, and the following plan is now in place for the remainder of the week:

• The playground will be closed and the wet weather roster will be in place each day, beginning with morning duty today. K-1 students will need to be supervised in Mrs Jacobs room before school and 2-6 students will be in the hall.
• All outdoor sports and physical activities are cancelled or postponed. This includes the CARES excursion today, the Gala day on Thursday, Surf School, Tennis, PSSA, T-BAll and any other school sports including K-2. We are looking to find dates later in the year to run our CARES excursion and to make up surf school.
• Y2 Swim School will proceed as it is an indoor activity.

You should receive and email from school today explaining the above measures. If there are any changes I will keep you informed.

PSSA Training

PSSA Soccer & AFL training is OFF. Netball training is weather dependant.

Students should come to school prepared for PSSA competition. A decision on whether competition goes ahead will be made tomorrow morning.

PSSA Sport + Tennis Start Friday 19th July

New tennis groups begin- Students know who they are. Last terms tennis players will be participating in school sport.

PSSA Friday 24th May

Dear parents/carers,

PSSA training is cancelled tomorrow (Friday 24th May) due to Willoughby Council ground closures. Please view http://www.willoughby.nsw.gov.au/your-neighbourhood/recreation/Ground-Closures/ for further information.

AFL and soccer games are cancelled and a decision about netball games will be made by the PSSA tomorrow morning.

Zone Cross Country POSTPONED!!!

The Zone Cross Country has been postponed. Inclement weather (rain) is forecast for tomorrow.

Please be aware of the continuing trials / training scheduled for Wednesday 1st May, as this is the first day back for students after the holidays.

Soccer & AFL PSSA Sport Trial Postponed

Dear all,

Willoughby Council has closed Holly Street Oval on Friday 5th April.

FYI: The following factors influence a ground's closure:

• the potential for people using the ground to be injured
• the sport being played and how much the surface may be damaged
• the weather forecast
• the condition of the sportsground when an officer inspects it.

A sporting club or association has no authority to approve the use of a ground when Council has closed it.

Soccer and AFL Trials will now be held on Friday 12th April- weather permitting!

Netball will depend on conditions at school.

PSSA Sport Trials

Dear parents,

PSSA sport trials are scheduled for tomorrow morning between 8-9am. Netball is held at school and Soccer and AFL is held at Holly Street Oval.

I will recieve information about Holly Street Oval being open or closed (due to the recent heavy rain) from the Council either later on today, or early tomorrow morning... so please check this blog before you leave home! I will update it if there are any changes tomorrow, otherwise we go ahead.

ALL students must have their permission forms (or a note) submitted to their coach, before they can participate. Students need to bring appropriate equipment as outlined.

The back-up trial date is Friday 12th April.

Cross Country

We are scheduled for a second attempt on Friday 22nd March (Week 8).
